There are two schools of thought regarding the internment camp/s from which the Italian internees departed for Liverpool Docks before boarding the Arandora Star.

Were the Italian internees transferred directly from seven temporary internment camps (Bury, Edinburgh, Lingfield, Southampton, Paignton, Pembroke and Kempton Park) converging at Liverpool Docks to board the Arandora Star? ?

OR

Were the Italian internees transferred from their initial temporary internment camps at Edinburgh, Lingfield, Southampton, Paignton, Pembroke and Kempton Park to Warth Mills Bury Camp before departing for Liverpool Docks?

What is known, is that from testimonies and diaries, some of the Italians were at Lingfield, Edinburgh, Kempton Park, Paignton BEFORE being taken to Warth Mills, Bury.

CAN YOU ADD ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION?
WHAT WAS YOUR RELATIVE'S CHAIN OF TEMPORARY INTERNMENT PLACES BEFORE BOARDING THE ARANDORA STAR?

Unfortunately the Arandora Star Embarkation Lists were compiled retrospectively in an effort to confirm the names of those who survived and the names of those who perished.

What we do know is the list contains errors.

Giorgio Scola was listed as 'lost' and his camp of origin 'Paignton'.

But Giorgio Scola was rescued and sent to Australia. While he was originally taken to Paignton Camp, he noted in his diary that he was then taken to Warth Mills Bury.
