The 3rd September 2025, will mark 85 years since the Dunera Italians arrived in Australia for internment. It is a history that seems unfathomable; why send a small group of Italians from the UK to Australia?
This question has been dealt with in detail by historians who have delved into the wartime policy of internment, the tragedy of the Arandora Star and the voyage of the Dunera.

Very little however has been documented about this group of Italians and their time in Australia.

This history is a giant puzzle and the goal is to find the pieces of the puzzle and bring them together to show 'the big picture' of the internment of 200 UK Italians in Australia.
But it will take a community effort to complete the puzzle and help is needed to write this history as every relic and every memory is important.

Would you be happy to make a contribution of a copy of a relevant item eg a photo, an object made in Australia, a document, a letter, a diary entry?

Are you able to add further information to articles already published? Do you have any suggestions for editing, corrections and/or clarification on topics?
