The Tatura Group Photographs

Rando Bertoia was one of the youngest in the group having been born in 1920.

His letter below highlights two points:
The role of the YMCA in providing writing material for the internees.
The rule that official photographs were to be taken in groups of ten; photos must be sent home OR kept in the hands of the Commandant.

Rando's letter did not pass the censors and note states: To rewrite letter 31.12.43

It will be noticed that the photos held in the Australian War Memorial archives are referenced as having been taken on 13th February 1943.

They had to have been taken in January 1943 as men in the photographs were no longer at Tatura Camp in February 1943.
