Camp 4 had four compounds and was built as a family camp. As a family camp, it provided privacy for family groups with twelve compartments in each accommodation hut. Partitions were constructed providing rooms for two people and a door was installed between these twin share rooms to accommodate the children.
There were six rooms on each side of the hut and each room had a glass window. For the first time since the men had left their homes in the UK, they had a small private room they shared with a friend. In the carpentry workshop, tables, stools and shelving were made to furnish the rooms.
