The Dunera Italians were at Tatura Camp 2B for over eight months. They were the only residents of a camp built to accommodate 500.

Hut leaders were as follows: Nicola Cua, ?, Giuseppe Vincenzo Lembo, Angelo Biasoni, Serafini Pini, Alberto Maciocia, ?.

It is thought that the names correspond to the hut number ie the men signed their names in order of hut numbers. It is known that Nicola Cua was in Hut 1, Serafini Pini in Hut 5 and Alberto Maciocia in Hut 6.

What is known from other data: Hut 1 - English, Hut 2 - English, Hut 3 - English, Hut 4 -Welsh, Hut 5 - English, Hut 6-Scottish, Hut 7 - Scottish.

Can you recognise the two unknown signatures.

The diagram below shows work completed by the end of 1940 and further work planned or undertaken in January 1941. Plans were thoughtful: bowling greens for the older men to play bocce, jumping ground for the younger athletic minded men and garden beds to make the camp less austere.

It was here at Tatura Camp 2B they celebrated their first Christmas and Easter and where a barracks was turned into a beautiful chapel.

The group departed Tatura Camp 2B on the 16th May 1941 and transferred to Tatura Camp 4B.
