Realdo Ciuffardi was born on the 28th September 1900 in Spezia, Italy. A shopkeeper from Glasgow, Scotland he was arrested on the 11th June 1940. His mother Maria who lived in Padivarma, Port of Spezia was named his next of kin. His address in Glasgow was 62 Cromwell Street.

As early as 16th April 1942, Realdo was given permission to return to the UK to appear before the Italian Advisory Committee.

On the 30th November 1943, Realdo departed Australia on the SS Themistocles and travelled to Wellington NZ, Kingston, Jamaica and New York, USA before arriving at Cardiff, Wales on the 14th February 1944.  He was reinterned on the Isle of Man until his release on the 10th May 1944.
