Lorenzo Rosselli (Roselli) was born on the 10th August 1886 at Santa Maria Oliveto (Campobasso) Italy.  He was a shop assistant/restaurant proprietor at Quarry Street Hamilton, Scotland at the time of his arrest on the 10th June 1940. His wife Angela Antonia Rosselli was living in Santa Maria Oliveto Italy at the time of his internment in Australia.

In 1930, Lorenzo rented a shop and machinery at 7 Craigneuk Street, Wishaw, Scotland where it was noted he operated a fish restaurant. By 1935 he continued to rent the Craigneuk Street premises and additionally shop and machinery at 137 at Quarry Street, Hamilton. In 1940, the only premises Lorenzo rented was that of the shop and machinery (electric) at 137 Quarry Street, Hamilton.

He was released for return to the UK for further consideration in December 1942, but this authority was cancelled on the 17th May 1943.  Lorenzo was classified as infirmed and therefore excused from signing on with the Civil Aliens Corps. 

Lorenzo was released from Tatura Camp 2A on the 24th August 1944 to work for De Marco Bros. at 118 Ferrars Street, South Melbourne.  The company was a reputable mosaic and terrazzo business where another five UK Italian internees were employed.

On the 6th February 1945, Lorenzo along with 62 other UK Italians boarded the SS Athlone Castle in Sydney, New South Wales for return home.  He arrived as a ‘released internee’ in Liverpool, England on the 29th March 1945.  The ship’s register noted his address as 137 Quarry Street, Hamilton, Scotland.
