Pietro Lorenzo Moscardini was born on the 6th January 1905 in Barga (Lucca) Italy. At the time of his arrest on the 10th June 1940, Pietro and his wife Lina lived at 5 Shaftsbury Street, Glasgow, Scotland.  His stated occupation was shop keeper.

At the time of his marriage to Lina Dinora Pioli on the 7th November 1939, Pietro was living at 90 High Street, Ayr, Scotland and working as a confectioner's shop assistant.

Pietro died at Barmera Hospital South Australian on the 18th January 1942 aged 35 years. He had been evacuated to hospital 12 days previously. The inquest declared that he died from natural causes namely tuberculosis broncho pneumonia followed by tuberculosis meningitis.

He was the first internee to die at Loveday Camp, South Australia and was buried at the Barmera Cemetery on the 19th January 1942. His grave was marked with a cross.

In the Legal Notices of The Advertiser (Adelaide) a notice was placed on 26 November 1942: MOSCARDINI Pietro, late Internment Camp Loveday, Internee, formerly Shopkeeper.

In 1961, Pietro’s remains were re-interred at the Ossario, Murchison, Victoria which is the final resting place for 130 Italian internees and prisoners of war who died in Australia during World War 2.
