Antonio Galante was born in Arpino (Frosinone) Italy in December 1891. His date of birth varies from 18th and the 24th December 1891 and his surname was noted as Galante and Galanti. He was living with his wife Giustina (née Mancini) at 151 Northam Road, Southampton, England when he was arrested on the 10th June 1940.
He worked for Pirelli Cable Co. Ltd in Southampton as a rubber cable worker and was also the factory fireman. Antonio was included in a newspaper list of 'well known Italians' onboard the Arandora Star. His brother Emilio was also a rubber cable worker with Pirelli both sharing the experiences of the Arandora Star and Dunera journeys.

Antonio’s time in Australia was brief and Tatura Camps 2B and 4B were the camps he was held in. He arrived in Australia on the 3rd September 1940 and on the 5th October 1941 he departed Tatura Camp for Liverpool Camp, NSW until his embarkation on the Stirling Castle on the 13th October 1941.
The voyage was to take the ten UK Italian internees onboard to Auckland, New Zealand, Cristobal, Panama and Liverpool, England. He arrived at Liverpool, England on the 28th November 1941 and was re-interned on the Isle of Man. His released was recommended on the 16th January 1942 and on the 13th May 1942, his document noted R.A. M/L – Ministry of Labour.
