One of the strengths of the Department of Army was their attention to protocol. And while many documents are difficult to find, due to the archiving process post war, the Order for Release with Restrictions is a glimpse into the protocols and processes for internees.

Just as there was an Order for Detention of Enemy Aliens, there was also and Order for Release.

Andrea Pini joined the Civil Aliens Corps in forestry and Angelo Biasoni remained behind the barbed wire until his journey to the UK.
It is important to make note that the Dunera Italians were treated the same as Australian Italian internees. Some North Queensland Italian internees were released without restrictions, some were released and allowed to return home with restrictions and others were not allowed to return home, but were directed to work with Civil Aliens Corps work parties (eg salt harvesting Victoria, forestry work SA, road building Northern Territory) with restrictions. This last group were not allowed to return home to North Queensland and their families.
