Guglielmo Paolo Biagi was born in Gallicano (Lucca) Italy on the 13th February 1893. He had married Mafalda Maria Rossi in 1932 at Ayr and he had lived at 4 Charlotte Street, Ayr, Scotland since 1930 which became the family's home.
In 1921, he was living at 9 New Bridge Street, Ayr with Marcello Bianchini his employer. Guglielmo worked as an ice cream and confectioner shop assistant.
On the 10th June 1940 he was arrested in Ayr, Scotland and the 11th June 1940, newspapers reported arrests in Ayr: Large crowds gathered outside shops run by Italians in Ayr, while police officers carried out the task of rounding up this new class of enemy aliens. His occupation was documented as shop proprietor and restaurant assistant.
His time in Australia was short, from the 3rd September 1940 when he arrived in Melbourne and Tatura Camp 2B, Victoria until the 17th July 1942 when he departed Tatura Camp 4B. With 16 other UK Italian internees, he embarked the SS Themistocles in Sydney and disembarked in Liverpool, England on the 17th October 1942.
Guglielmo was returned for consideration by the Advisory Committee. He continued internment until his release which was authorised under the I.L.B. Scheme on the 6th May 1943.
