Bernardo Franchetti was born in Villa Latina (Frosinone) Italy on the 15th  June 1893.  He worked as a stonemason and marble worker and lived with his wife Rosalda and family at 374 Gallowgate, Glasgow, Scotland.  He was arrested on the 10th June1940 in Glasgow.

On the 24th October 1942 Bernardo was released from Tatura Camp 2A for transfer to the UK.  He was one of six UK Italian internees who boarded the SS Desirade and was transshipped to the SS Johan Van Oldenbarnvelt which arrived in Liverpool, England on the 15th January 1943. Bernardo was re-interned on the Isle of Man.  On the 21st May 1943, he was released.
