Angelo Benedetto Mario ‘Peter’ Ghisoni was born in Villeia (Piacenza) Italy on the 17th May 1915. He lived with his parents Giacomo and Alice at Flat 2 Maidstone House, 3 Mercer Street, London. Angelo was working as a driver when he was arrested on the 11th June 1940 in the Hampshire Police District.
On the16th May 1944 he was released to the Civil Aliens Corps for work in forestry. He remained in Australia, and on the 12th November 1947 he advertised his intention to apply for naturalisation. At the time, he worked as a market gardener and he lived at Chiltern Valley. Angelo was granted his Certificate of Naturalisation on 4th June 1948.
I, Angelo Ghisoni of Italian nationality born at Piacenza, Italy and resident seven years in Australia, now residing at Chiltern Valley in the State of Victoria, intend to apply for naturalisation under the Nationality Act of 1920-1946.
By the time of his marriage, Angelo went by the name of Peter.
On the 7th May 1949 Peter Ghisoni formerly of Regent’s Park London was married to Maria Teresa Bogetti in Chiltern, Victoria.
Friendships formed during internment continued post internment. Peter’s best man was Frank Ferrucci of London (aka Rizzieri Ferrucci) and guests included Arturo Nazzari and Emilio Previdi of London.
Angelo Benedetto Mario ‘Peter’ Ghisoni died at Glen Iris, Victoria in 1976.
