Fortunato Cavina was born in Brisighella (Ravenna) Italy on the 26th March 1900.  He was arrested in Pontyclun, South Wales on the 10th June 1940.

He and his family, his wife Pierina and daughter Mary Dina lived at 3 Llantrisant Road, Pontyclun and he operated a Tobacco and Confectionery Refreshment House. 
Initially in January 1942, Fortunato was refused permission to return to the UK for appearance before the Advisory Committee.

On the 2nd December 1943, Fortunato boarded the SS Themistocles to return to the UK. On the 12th February 1944, Fortunato and twelve other UK Italian internees arrived at Cardiff, Wales.

Fortunato was reinterned on the Isle of Man and was once more refused release on the 20th April 1944.  On the 19th June 1944, he was released to the ILB (Labour Battalion?). 

His death on the 23rd June 1963 was noted in the Observer, Leader & Free Press (Saturday July 13, 1963)
