The Armistice of Cassibile was signed on 3 September 1943 between Italy and the Allies during World War II. It was made public five days later.
On the 13th September 1943, Venuto Corinti, a London chef, made an application to return to the UK for appearance before the Italian Advisory Committee.
His application was refused and he did not return to England until the 29th March 1945.
