Lodovico Rosi was born on the 17th December 1897 at Pontremoli (Massa and Carrara) Italy. At the time of his arrest on the 11th June 1940, he was living at 68 High Holborn, London, England with his wife Margaret (née Dormandy).

Margaret and Lodovico operated a business on the premises of 68 High Holborn which had a listing under ‘confectioners’ in the London Trades Directory. Married in 1928, Margaret and Lodovico had one son, Francesco who was aged nine at the time of his father’s arrest.

Along with Luigi Cappuccini and Attilio Marioni, Lodovico had family connections to Grondola (Massa) Italy with Luigi Cappuccini noted as his cousin.

A note on his British record recorded that on the 8th January 1942, Lodovico was refused permission to return to UK for consideration on his internment due to security grounds.

On the 6th July 1944, Lodovico was ‘released on parole’ for employment at the Commercial Travellers Association, Flinders Street, Melbourne as a kitchen hand.

On the 22nd August 1945, Lodovico boarded the SS Mauretania in Sydney, New South Wales for return to England. He travelled with eight other UK Italian internees and disembarked at Liverpool, England on the 23rd September 1945.

Lodovico died on the 20th August 1973.
