Guglielmo Francescon, born on November 21, 1885, in Cavasso Nuovo (Udine), Italy, resided at 24 Alston Avenue, Stretford, Manchester, with his wife Lily. He was arrested on June 11, 1940, and worked as a concrete setter-out and mosaic worker.
Migrants from the Friuli region, specifically from Sequals, Fanna, Orgnese, and Cavasso Nuovo, gained recognition for their contributions to the mosaic and terrazzo industry in London and Manchester. Dunera Internees Pietro Mariutto and Vittorio Sartor both terrazzo workers were also born in Cavasso Nuovo, Italy.
Guglielmo's release from internment under Catergory 22 of The White Paper, required him to have lived at least 20 years in the UK . In the 1911 Census of England and Wales, Guglielmo was living at 20 Belgrave Road, Bingley, England.
Guglielmo's Isle of Man internment record noted his employer as Messrs. Conway Ltd, Plymouth Grove, Manchester.
The first Dunera Italian to return to the UK, Gugliemo departed Sydney, Australia on the 4th June 1941 and arrived in Liverpool, England on the 31st July 1941.
