Riccardo Freppoli was born in Codi, San Giorgio (Piacenza) Italy on the 25th December 1892. In 1920 Riccardo married Corina Satori in London and at the time of his arrest on the 11th June 1940, they were living at 71 Lukin Street, Stepney, London, England.
Riccardo’s occupation on his Australian document is carman but the 1939 English register has him working as an ice salesman.
On the 1st June 1944, Riccardo was released from Tatura Camp 2A to Melbourne for employment with Mr Ditterick of Main Ridge, Red Hill.
In early February 1945, Riccardo as part of a group of 63 ‘released’ Italian UK internees boarded the Athlone Castle for Liverpool. The ship’s route went from Sydney via Wellington, New Zealand, the Panama Canal, New York USA and Ponta Delgado Azores. Riccardo arrived in Liverpool, England on the 29th March 1945. He returned to his home at 71 Lukin Street, Stepney, London.
