Celeste Gauna, a chef from London, England lacerated a finger while working in the Loveday Camp 14D kitchen. As a result of this injury, a court of inquiry was held.
The mishap resulted from cutting his finger on the lip of an opened tin of food in the kitchen. He was opening tins of beef in the kitchen as part of his duties when the can opened slipped. A report of the injury was lodged as per routine protocol, a Court of Inquiry was held. He was given appropriate medical treatment with the laceration requiring three stitches and follow up wound care and paid leave for 2 weeks while the wound healed.
Additionally, it was noted that the laceration was not self inflicted nor caused by neglect.
