Giovanni D’Ambrosio was born in Picinisco (Frosinone) Italy on the 11th February 1882.  At the time of his arrest on the 10th June 1940, he was living with his wife Domenica (née Di Ciacca) at 85 Tollcross Road, Glasgow, Scotland.  His occupation was shop proprietor. and the 1935 Valuation Rolls, showed that Giovanni also rented the shop and machinery at 87 Tollcross Road, Glasgow.
 
His permission to return to the UK for further consideration of his internment was granted on the 15th June 1942, while he was in Loveday Camp 10.  He was transferred to Tatura Camp via Broadmeadows Military Camp departing Loveday Camp on the 29th June 1942 and arriving at Tatura Camp on the 9th July 1942.
 
Giovanni departed Tatura Camp on the 17th July 1942 with 16 other UK Italian internees. They embarked the SS Themistocles in Sydney and disembarked in Liverpool, England on the 17th October 1942. On the 5th January 1943, Giovanni was released under Category 18: Special cases of extreme hardship, such as where a parent, wife or child was dangerously ill.

His wife Domenica died in 1948 and Giovanni died in 1950.

Were Luigi Di Ciacca and Giovanni D’Ambrosio brothers-in-law?

Both were from Picinisco (Frosinone) Italy, migrated to Glasgow, Scotland and shared an internment journey including returning to the UK on the same SS Themistocles voyage.
