Ennio Giovanni Giuseppe Politi was born in Medesano (Parma) Italy on the 20th February 1898. A fish restaurant proprietor, he was living with his wife Agata Eva (née Equi) and sons Oreste, Ronaldo and Leonardo at 3 Crighton Place, Edinburgh, Scotland when he was arrested and interned. Ennio and Agata had married in 1929.

According to Valuation Rolls from 1930 onwards, Ennio tenanted a shop at 30 Albert Street and a store at 32 Albert Street, Edinburgh.

Interestingly is one of his British record cards (below) which noted Interned S of S 26.5.40; a puzzle, an error! His Australia record card however noted 10th June 1940 as the date of his arrest.

Ennio had his approval to return to the UK to appear before the Advisory Committee in December 1941.  On the 29th June 1942, Ennio departed Loveday Camp 10, South Australia for return to Tatura Camp 2, Victoria to await shipping.  He travelled via Broadmeadows Military Camp, Victoria and arrived in Tatura Camp 9th July 1942.

Along with 16 other UK Italian internees, he boarded the SS Themistocles 17th July 1942. The ship travelled via south and west Africa before arriving in Liverpool, England on the 17th October 1942.

His second British record card noted: RA M/L Scheme 4.1.43 (M/L Ministry of Labour) and RA ILB 5.8.43 (Labour Battalion?).  It is unclear as to when he returned home to his family.

The Edinburgh Gazette of 17th February 1950 advertised the awarding of Certificate of Naturalization to Ennio Giovanni Giuseppe Politi on the 10th January 1950.

Ennio Giovanni Polito died in Scotland in 1966.
