Giuseppe Dorà was born in Borgotaro (Parma) Italy on the 3rd September 1899. On his 41st birthday, he arrived in Melbourne, Australia and was transferred to Tatura Camp 2B.
A Fish Café Proprietor, Giuseppe on his Australian document registered his wife Anna as his next of kin, living at 25 Main Street, Beith, Scotland. He had been arrested in the Ayrshire police district on the 11th June 1940.
His release to return to the UK for an appearance with the Italian Advisory Board was approved on the 23rd January 1942. Giuseppe was at Loveday Camp 10 and departed the camp on the 29th June and arrived at Tatura Camp via Broadmeadows Military Camp on the 9th July 1942.
Giuseppe departed Tatura Camp on the 17th July 1942 with 16 other UK Italian internees. They embarked the SS Themistocles in Sydney and disembarked in Liverpool, England on the 17th October 1942.
Giuseppe continued his internment and on the 4th November 1943 he was released to ILB (Italian Labour Battalion?).
On the 16th June, 1990 Giuseppe along with 21 other survivors of the Arandora Star tragedy was bestowed the award of Cavaliere al Merito della Repubblica Italiana.
